If you are in to crafting, this is a simple project that works great in the smelly RV toilet area. No matter how much cleaning and septic smelly good chemicals you use… there is always that stinky septic tank smell that wafts up… especially on hot summer days! ugh! Nasty! What to do besides hold your breath and hope not to pass out, right?
This project takes a bit of wool roving (which can be purchased in most major craft stores) and a needle felting kit. You can go simple or get creative with your design! My friend made this particular design for me and we call him Mr. Toilet-head lol but you can honestly make any design you want, and any size you want… as long as it is made from 100% natural wool!

The trick is: this must be made from all natural wool, to include the stuffing, for it to work right. If you decide to use any other stuffing like cotton or fiber fill etc it won’t work correctly when you add the next ingredient! So make sure you have a good wool base center to work from and a wool outer.
The next step is to add one drop of Aura Cacia brand peppermint essential oil to each cheek of Mr. Toilet-head, who will be hanging somewhere in the bathroom smelly area. I prefer this brand of essential oil as it holds it’s scent much longer (and is much stronger) than any other brand I have tried, so don’t be tempted to try the other brands you may find at your local big box store. Go online and order this brand from their website directly if you can not find it locally (try some other scents if you don’t like peppermint, but peppermint also keeps bugs out of the RV nicely so this is what we prefer. We also like spearmint, lemon grass, cinnamon leaf and citronella to name a few).

Another use for these essential oils is to make pet and kid friendly cleaning supplies (directions for that is on another blog post of mine). That recipe will also kill ants better than any insecticide I have ever used! It (in my vast personal experience) is also great at repelling ticks and other creepy crawlers, and mice don’t like the smell much either… so honestly if they sold this stuff by the gallon I would be buying it in larger bulk sized bottles because we use it so much! I have a suede leather bracelet that I place a few drops of either peppermint or citronella or lemon grass (depending on the mood and the bugs that are biting) when we sit outside to enjoy the campfire too! Sooooo many uses! But making the toilet facilities smell acceptable enough to sit and think for a bit 🤪 is a good place to start!
Last but not least… Conestoga Chuck and his little sister say to remind everyone that peppermint makes a much better smell than that icky wet dog smell on rainy walk days! 🐕 just sayin…
