Conestoga Chuck has been super busy this summer with events. So the writing time has been very limited. We invite you to join us on Conestoga Chuck’s Face Book page if you are solely a wordpress reader, because we have been posting quick updates there due to time constraints. Also, there have been quite a few write ups from other entities about Conestoga Chuck’s exploits this summer that have been shared to his Facebook page. To include a few newspaper articles 🙂
We have created a Conestoga float for some local parades and won some awards. We’ve been doing hands on learning about history events for kids of all ages, 1-100 years old 🙂 …. so many events it’s actually hard to write anything lengthy because of time constraints lol. We’ve even been fund raising to build a dog park! All our events are to let kids have some time playing with some of the antiques in the museum. Learning is more fun if you get to play with the toys, right!?!?!?!
Some of the events are:
*Weaving on an 1800’s weaving loom
*Grain grinding using 1800’s machines and tools
*Candle dipping hand made candles
*Rope making on an antique 1800’s rope making machine
*making cups out of clay
* making and using peg looms
* cast iron cooking on the fire pit classes
…And much more!
We even built a couple of band stands with some help from other volunteers for the Fourth of July festivities and Conestoga Chuck’s very good friend Bobber the water safety dog from the US Army Corp of Engineers was recruited to drive our Conestoga for us in several parades!

So as you can see between being super busy and not having much cell phone signal (hence internet access lol due to the rural camping situation) Conestoga Chuck just hasn’t had time to dictate any fun stories to his humans lately lol but we do try to post some quick updates on his Facebook page as time and cell phone signal allows.
Conestoga chuck is most excited about the fund raising efforts to build the dog park! He is trying to get a lake side doggie beach and dog walking trail built just for doggies and their servant hooomans to enjoy! A doggie beach that is fenced in on three sides but open to the beach and water on the fourth side! Doggies want to play in the lake and swim too! Conestoga chuck says the hooman servants can come swim at doggie beach once it is built … but only if they bring doggie toys and pick up all the doggie poop like good little servants! lol. If you would like to donate you can send in a donation to the Bulltown history Association (non profit) at Burnsville Lake which is run By the US Army Corp of Engineers: by calling the historical area museum for the address and further information.
