Today is day one of our travels this year, after spending a very long winter learning how to weave with some awesome ladies from the Billings Montana weavers Guild.
After getting everything packed in the Conestoga and ready to go, it’s important to make the first day of travel a short day so that you have time to adjust for any problems and take your time working out any bugs. We prefer not to travel more than 3 hours a day because that way we can take our time and enjoy the scenery and explore a bit. When the GPS says it’s a 3 hour drive … it usually takes us closer to 5 because I have to stop and stretch so many times, the kids need to potty and generally we don’t drive very fast lol. It also keeps things from thawing too much in the fridge/freezer since we don’t like to travel with the propane or generator running if we can help it. So today we are staying at an awesome KOA campground in Buffalo Wyoming! We have stayed at this campground before and it is really nice. Usually I prefer the mom and pop type places or state/national parks etc… but I have to admit, if you are going to stay at a KOA then this one is awesome!
It is very scenic, large sites (big rig friendly), has a beautiful stream nearby with some Canadian Geese making a stop over today, and an excellent doggie park for Conestoga Chuck and his lil sister to enjoy! So Conestoga Chuck approves of this KOA. He gives it 5 paws! Lol

I also thought I’d talk a bit about some really handy RV items that I just love! The first is called a spiderlegs folding table (available on amazon). We have used the heck out of this so much that we ordered a second one to have a spare. It works great as a dining table, an end table, an impromptu kitchen island for tiny living lol, a crafting table, and my grandson thinks it’s his special table and chair (we also have the spiderlegs folding chair) when he comes over for a visit at the house and always sits at it to have a snack lol. They come in different sizes and shapes etc but the one in this photo is the laptop table. It folds down flat and I can stow it just about anywhere… often it goes behind a seat or the couch when not in use. I get a lot of compliments and questions about where did I get this table when people see it, so it is well worth the purchase for just about any use you can imagine! Prepare to amaze your friends! (Available on Amazon)
The next cool item is the collapsible dish drainer. We place that on a tray with a drying mat on the tray for when we do dishes, and when traveling we just put it in the sink with things that normally sit on the countertop so they don’t slide all over the place when we are driving down the road. We have the matching collapsible dish pan with removable drain plug that helps to catch any bits and pieces before it goes down the drain into the grey water tank. We usually use a pot scraper to scrape the plates and bowls etc before washing them so honestly there isn’t much “bits and pieces” to worry about after washing the dishes. I honestly don’t remember where I bought these but I’d bet you can find them either online or at an RV store.

Now for one of my favorite finds! This Indian triangular back rest pillow from amazon is absolutely the best! It is very firm and fairly stout and heavy so it doesn’t slide around or mush down when you want to prop yourself up in the bed and write a blog. Since lil bit is the bed hog and blanket hog I can say that she approves of this purchase, so we can snuggle as I write lol… although Conestoga Chuck may not approve so much because we are technically sitting in “his room” on “his bed” lol

Poor Conestoga Chuck is relegated to the Conestoga couch! And now that we have all been fed, watered, walked, and finished our chores … I think it’s time for a nap! So much excitement for all of us as we begin our journey for this year!
