Part of traveling full time in an RV means keeping an eye on the weather and knowing when to postpone travel plans for a bit lol. Well this weeks travel plans have been postponed due to a freak April snowstorm and subsequent forecasted flooding right along our planned route.
This gives us a bit more time to stay in place and do some other maintenance and remodels on the RV. An opportunity lost can sometimes be an opportunity gained 🙂 so while we are doing those I thought I’d show off some of our upgrades we have made so far.
I have to giggle a bit and (tongue in cheek) tell everyone we now have a 4 bedroom 2 bath RV post remodel (giggle giggle) and the “kids” all now have their own bedrooms. With the Prima-Donna young lady having her own private toilet space to boot! If you’ve been following the page for a while you might know by “kids” I am referring to 2 dogs (Conestoga Chuck and Lil Bit) and Miss Kitty. Lil bit is a service dog, Conestoga Chuck is a service dog in training, and Miss kitty has been trained to perform certain functions as well believe it or not… she has jobs to perform too. She can do things like play fetch and is trained to wake me up in the morning at a certain time amongst other trained tasks.
So without further adieu… a few photos of their new bedrooms! 🙂

We had an old box TV in the master bedroom so we removed that behemoth, and with the help of a carpenter friend framed that area in and added carpeting so Miss kitty would have a nice scratching post spot. I plan on making her a small custom size bed to fit in there as well but I just haven’t gotten that far yet lol. Her food bowl is a vintage Pyrex milk glass baking dish (I just love vintage milk glass items) that I found at a thrift store. Hubby said no to the fine crystal I (jokingly) wanted to get for her lol as being to fragile. It’s hard to break that old Pyrex tho!

Next is Miss Kitty’s bathroom. Pardon the mess. She needs to clean her bathroom obviously, such a messy girl! With the slide out in my cool hemp throw rug (also a good scratching area for Miss kitty ) is a bit too wide, but it’s super nice when we put the slide out portion out! Anyway, We left the dinette, placed it down into the “bed” position and removed one of the doors underneath the “seat” portion of the dinette chair to create a bathroom area for Miss kitty. Between this spot and her up high kitty condo bedroom she has plenty of space to get away from her pesky siblings (aka the dogs). She tends to like to hide in this cubby.

This is the dinette in the “bed” position. Everyone (including the humans) like this spot. And we call it the giant dog bed lol. I found some very nice upholstery fabric at the local thrift store (the kind of stuff that is normally very expensive to buy!) and made basically giant slip on pillow cases for each of the dinette seat cushions. I decided to make the seat back cushions a different color fabric that the seat bottom cushions so that if/when we decide to use it as a dinette it has nice contrasting colors. By making the like giant pillow cases I can easily take them off and wash them. Then I took various pillows that I’ve made so many different color slip covers for over the years to “redecorate” I couldn’t even tell you how many times I’ve changed those out lol… to give it a “day bed” feel. The best purchase being the triangle pillow to the right of the photo (amazon purchase). It’s awesome for lounging! Very firm! Not in the photo: we have a basket full of dog toys we place on the right side of the bed (the part that doesn’t have cushions on it) and Miss kitty has another basket of toys in the master bedroom. That way they can get toys out to play with at will and I have an easy way to pick them up and stow them when they get too messy lol.

Next is Lil Bit’s private sanctum. Sometimes she just needs some personal space away from her little (younger but much larger) brother and she likes her space to be small, warm, and snuggly. So this is the spot underneath the dinette where normally if you were sitting at the table your feet would be. It’s the perfect size for one of her favorite doggie beds. I usually put her favorite snuggle blanket in there too, but just haven’t done so yet. Another bonus to all these cushions/dog beds is that we can place them on the floor or on a blanket outside and use them for comfy human seating too lol.
So there you have it: our newly remodeled “4 bedroom/2bath” RV (giggle giggle) To be fair I got a new fancy kitchen faucet out of the deal so I’m happy too! 🙂 it’s nice and tall and I can now wash pots much easier than with the dinky faucet that was installed by the manufacture.
Next on the honey-do list: new hoses for the propane tanks, possibly a newer fancier water heater system, and a new memory foam mattress for the humans!
Update: the princess Miss Kitty now has a brand new, custom, hand made, mattress for her sleeping pleasure 🙂 now to hang her lacy hand made crochet “privacy curtains” next lol
