Today we are making some hand made dish scrubbys! Much more economical than buying a pack at the store and these work great! One small skein of yarn makes quite a few dish scrubbys so make some for yourself and then a few to give to friends and family. They are very simple to make.

I’m using a skein of Redheart brand scrubby sparkle yarn. It’s very scratchy feeling and perfect for doing dishes! I’m also using a # 9 knitting needle (I prefer circular needles but use them like straight needles) and a size “I” crochet hook. Feel free to sew together instead of crochet at the end if you don’t crochet. I like crochet because it gives a bit more strength at the seam and looks nicer, but do what feels best for you.

Cast on 30 stitches
Knit for 35 rows
Cast off
Fold in half and crochet (or sew) around three sides (the fold making one of the sides) to finish the mitt.
If you crochet instead of knit
Make 31 chains
Turn and single crochet for 35 rows
Fold in half and crochet around three sides (the fold making one of the sides) to finish.
These are so easy to make and after making a few already, it hardly looks like I have used any of the yarn at all… so I’m sure I will get enough scrubbys for myself and plenty to gift as well. The best part is … I can throw them in the laundry! Try doing that with a store bought scrubby lol π
Happy crafting!
