Best chair for tiny living and puppy snuggling

A couple months ago I bought a stratolounger snuggle up recliner chair for Conestoga Chuck. Yes I buy furniture specifically for my kiddos! It had mixed reviews but I decided after looking at multiple chairs that this was the only one I could find that met my requirements:

1. Won’t trap dog fur, easy to keep clean.

2. Enough room for myself, lil bit, and Conestoga Chuck to snuggle together.

3. Will fit into our tiny living space (about 850 sq feet apartment).

4. Reclines and is comfortable enough for me to sleep on for those many nights when I just can’t sleep because of aches and pains or migraines etc so hubby can have the bedroom and I don’t keep him awake with my tossing and turning all night.

I wanted to give it a couple months to see how the chair held up to myself and two dogs and a cat constantly using it. I have to say it has held up rather well so far! I do keep a quilt on the seat portion to help prevent dog claw punctures to the fabric as the dogs jump up and down off it. I actually keep two lap sized quilts … one for the seat as a protector and a matching one to throw over my lap because lil bit insists on sleeping under a blanket.

If the critters are not on the chair there is actually just enough room for hubby and I to sit together and work on the laptop for example. So that is convenient as well. Hubby also has a regular sized recliner next to my “double wide” snuggler recliner.

As others noted: it does get “broken in” spots… where I like to sit is “softer and lower” than the other side or middle… but honestly that happens with every couch I have ever owned so I’m not too upset about it like other reviewers have posted. If this gives you angst … then this might not be the chair for you. But in my opinion this is the best chair for companion living!

Both lil bit and Conestoga Chuck are trained (as service dogs) to snuggle my achey bits (knees, back etc) to act as portable heat packs to provide pain relief. So far this is the best thing I’ve found to relieve some pain and not have to take a bunch of pills that make me sleep all day long. They do an admirable job of relieving a lot of the pain even if I do feel like someone turned on the furnace at full blast and end up sweating like crazy sometimes lol. Lil bit is especially good at this task because of her very short fur but Conestoga Chuck is learning quickly to mimic lil bits ministrations. If it’s a really bad episode lil bit stays with me while Conestoga Chuck goes and wakes up my hubby to come check on me. He’s trained to do this without me telling him to. He makes a “judgement call” and reacts to the situation as he deems appropriate. He is very intuitive. They are both trained to open doors using their paws and noses as well… so a closed door doesn’t stop them from their target. Which is a blessing and a curse sometimes lol.

So this chair meets all my requirements, and is Conestoga Chuck approved. The only complaint I have right now is that I would really like to reach my knitting project to knit for a bit and I can’t do so because it’s wayyyyyyy over there…. without disturbing my snuggle buddies! Knitting is a stress reliever for me and takes my mind off aches and pains. I guess I’m going to either have to move my knitting box to the other side of the chair where I normally sit… or buy one of those old lady reacher/grabber stick thingies lol

So if you are looking for a recliner, for tiny living, but big enough to snuggle… give a couple of the various “oversized” recliner chairs a try at the local furniture stores and see how they “feel”. I ended up buying mine at Big Lots and they often have furniture sales that are quite economical so don’t forget to check there if you have a store near you, this chair is one they normally carry. We give it a “four/four paws up” rating!
