Winter is coming: time to make some hats!

We got our first snow here in Montana the last week of September already, and it is supposed to snow all next week! So winter is coming! Or maybe it has already arrived? Either way it’s time to get the winter gear ready… so it is hat making time!

I had a special request to make some hats for a friend’s kids. Normally I don’t really enjoy making knit hats because it is sort of a basic beginner type thing to make. I like the more complicated fiddly bit type patterns like lace … but I downloaded a really basic quick and easy ribbed pattern hat from Redheart yarn website. That’s my usual go to web site for when I’m looking for a knitting pattern. I actually found the simple and easy to do pattern a nice change to the complicated stuff I normally attempt.

I had found this awesome hand spun yarn at the local Goodwill store and snatched it up before someone else could lol

… note to self: when you do any of the following in a thrift store people tend to look at you funny and inevitably an employee will come to check to see if you either a. Saw a mouse or b. Are having a heart attack… so I don’t recommend doing any of the following

1. Yelling “SCORE”, “BINGO” or “YES” at the top of your lungs.

2. Squealing loudly over a particularly exciting find.

3. Yelling for your husband (while doing both 1 and 2 above) halfway across the store to bring you a cart fast!!! while you greedily wrap your arms around your treasured find so nobody else will take it before you can get is tucked in safe and sound in your bumper car of joy lol.

These of course don’t apply if the employees of said store see you so often that they know your name, can recite your credit card number by heart, and generally ignore your weird dancing in the isle antics… where was I again? Oh yeah,.. hats…

So I made hats. Everyone is happy. The end lol

Now to figure out how to put a hat on Conestoga Chuck and lil bit for some cheesy fall/winter photos muahahahahaha (evil laugh).
