Free knitting patterns for a cold winter day

Today the human isn’t feeling all that great so it’s up to me , Conestoga Chuck, to do the typing and posting. I bet you didn’t know a dog could blog this well, right? Well I’m a special sort of dog. A service dog in training like my sister lil bit. So today’s post is going to be about some free knitting patterns that the human likes to use when she’s chair bound from not feeling well. Besides, it’s cold (34 degrees) and snow mixed with rain today so it’s a good day to stay inside and knit (or take naps in my case).

Did you know that you can go on many websites and get free knitting patterns? Same for crochet if that’s your preferred art form. My human likes to use the traditional yarn related websites a lot… like redheart yarn and lion brand yarn. They always have a huge amount of free patterns in all skill levels to browse thru. The human likes to buy her yarn at thrift stores and then find projects to go with whatever yarn she finds. Get creative and have some fun… but as always… do it on a budget and try to recycle or better yet make your own!

There are tons of other websites with free patterns as well. Just do an internet search and you will be able to get plenty of ideas for creative things to make. Don’t forget to search for vintage patterns! Those are really fun to make apparently. The human really likes to use vintage patterns to make costume accessories for her pioneer clothes. She’s always crocheting some lace trim for this or that project.

Today she is making a winter hat as a gift. A simple keep warm type hat using a very basic beginning knitting pattern from the redheart yarn website. She’s using some fabulous hand spun wool that she found in the thrift store. Which always amazes her when she finds those treasures! Since it’s already spun and ready to go and she isn’t feeling too well… a simple hat that she can sit and knit quietly while we dogs take a nap is just the ticket for a chilly wet rainy/snow drizzle day.

So today is going to be one of those teapot days as well. Lots of nice hot ginger tea to soothe what ailes ye. Everyone enjoy their day and stay warm ~ Conestoga Chuck
