We left Conestoga Chuck and the hubby home for a while today so the humans could go play… but he got lots of treats when we got home so no worries!
We just spent an awesome time at SCRaP in billings MT. If you are in the area stop by and get artistic. They have absolutely everything a crafty person or artist could ever want to play with… from woodworking equipment, fiber arts supplies (looms, yarn, spinning wheels, sewing machines, material etc) to painting, mosaics, a 3D printer (so much stuff to play with I can’t even name them all!)… and of course our target for the day… pottery wheels, kiln and clay!
My friend is really good at making pottery and I have wanted to learn for a while now, so we went down together today and had an absolute blast! She helped me make this really cool cup (I want to make a yarn bowl next). Got to learn the basics first, before I can reach my goal of making yarn bowls!
Then she showed me how to make a vase and we cut it in half to see how the thicknesses of the “walls” look so I would know what to “feel” for when I make one. Isn’t she fabulous! It took her all of 10 minutes to whip up this beautiful vase … I was so sad we had to cut it in half 😦 but a lesson needed teaching.
I got silly and made a pitch pot style decorative rose and once my drinking cup dries some… I will be adding the handle and some other finishing touches before we fire up the kiln.
I guess you can count on seeing us down at SCRaP for the next several months while I learn from the maestro. So come on down and join us!
