So if you are like us you, you like to camp and enjoy those outdoor toys! But often it’s hard to fit all those fun things into your RV ( or garage or apartment etch)  simply because they just won’t fit! Like a kayak! Well I have found the solution. I’ve rented the inflatable kayaks to give them a try and I just wasn’t impressed. I guess if you are on a relatively clean body of water with no chance of hitting a rock, stick, fishing hook etc you would be fine but visions of punctures and being stranded and swimming to shore kept running thru my mind the whole time I was using it … making for an unpleasant kayaking trip.

I decided instead to get the SNAP kayak. First it’s a sit on top style kayak which I have found to be much more balanced for rough waters similar to sea kayaks used in the ocean waves. They don’t have a tendency to tip over easy because of their design and can be used in very shallow waters. Besides it also allows for the pups to comfortably ride with me (they both have a life vest and I do as well). If they decide to jump in the water and swim a bit, it’s easy enough to help them back on board without us all going into the drink! Lol … because it is almost impossible to tip this thing over (trust me, my kids have tried to tip me lol).

I also don’t like the idea of sitting inside a kayak being strapped in just in case it does tip over and I’m stuck upside down and can’t get loose and end up drowning! So a sit on top kayak is a must. The really nice thing about this kayak is that it snaps together similar to LEGO blocks and is modular! So you can make it either a one seater like this one  SNAP KAYAKS Snap On Top Solo Kayak, Yellow OR a two heater like this one SNAP KAYAKS Snap On Top Tandem Kayak, Yellow depending on your needs! So you don’t need two kayaks for two people or one huge two seater. This thing breaks apart into three modular pieces.

We have all three pieces and have found that the front and back piece (which make a one seat kayak) easily fits in the underneath storage in our motor home! Yay! The middle piece however is a bit too wide for our particular undercarriage doors so we put that piece in the truck or inside the RV or just leave it home if not needed. No need to purchase a special RV to carry those big toys either (called toy haulers) or a need to purchase a roof rack for your regular vehicle. You can easily place all the pieces in the back seat of a car!

Since I have issues with being able to lift heavy things …having the ability to only have to carry one half/one third of a kayak at a time down to the water helps me out too. I can easily carry each piece down to the water one at a time, snap them together and off I go! All by myself, should I desire some peace and quiet me time 🙂

Now the only downside to this kayak is that it can be slightly more expensive than some other kayaks out there  …but for the advantages it allows me to have I am willing to pay for that. The second non issue for me is that because it is a snap together modular your tushy might get damp while you are out enjoying your day, some reviewers have made negative comments about that. However I find that I am no more damp than I am in a regular kayak from the water dripping off the oars and just being in and out of the kayak and playing in the water in the first place… besides it’s just water! On a hot day that feels cooling! Isn’t that why you got a kayak? to go play in the water? It’s not like you are going to sink! The snaps holding the modular pieces together and are very sturdy but super easy to use. Even I, with very limited hand strength, can assemble this thing. I feel much more secure in the snap kayak than in an inflatable kayak or a  sit inside kayak and it rides the same as a regular (non modular) sit on top kayak but allows for so much more flexibility and ease of use. Love love love my kayak!
